Sacrifice.....Is It In You?

If we stick together we can see it through, " Cause you got a friend in me. " - Randy Newman, Toy Story
From The 11 : Withness 2: Johnathan
3. Some researchers suggests that women will sacrifice achievement for the sake of relationship, but men will more likely sacrifice a relationship for the sake of achievement. Does this ring true for you? (answer warranted)
Do you agree with those who argure for gender differences in terms of relational skills?
If true, what are its implications if strong relationships hold both families and societies together?

From my perspective, I have to agree for the most part that you see women clinging hard to relationships they establish with each other. While men, for the sake of career development, or just due to life changes allowing relationships to fall to the wayside, to our very demise it's the lack of such relationships that we later seek, but in the wrong places. We tend to gravitate into the darkest parts of our caves where we are found doing those things that if ever were exposed would publicly ruin us. This is precisely why, I will forsake career advances to help develop relationships with those in need of the love of Christ. Those that don't take this route I believe find themselves at the top alone, or in company they don't prefer.

I think men just don't realize that relationships are important. So far these chapters have me considering how I interact with people, and vice versa, in a way I never would've done otherwise. I just don't think about whether another person is a true friend or not. I think I share experiences with them and eb & flow closer or farther away based on those experiences. So if soemone moves away then that relationship essentially moves away, but someone I see more often becomes closer. But with this book (and especially those elevator floors) I wonder how much closer I really do get.
